Welcome to our 32nd Season!
Hi Captains and Members,
Thank you for a wonderful season and the excellent turn out at the tournaments. All the league play and tournaments are now done. We just have the Year-end Banquet remaining. The Banquet is on May 11th, 2024, Doors open at 6pm, Dinner 7:30pm, Trophy Presentation 8:30pm, Dance & Prizes 9:30pm. Location: Central Lion’s Senior Centre (11113 - 113 Street). If you did not get your Banquet tickets and would like to do so, the information is below:
Banquet Tickets ($40 each) are available with E-transfer or captains can have them taken from their place money. We need to know by May 4th so we can give the caterer a head count. No pay at the door tickets. Please confirm with your team members, then either text or email your order and I will confirm with you. Tickets will be held at the door when you arrive.
Place money will be handed out to teams at the Banquet, after the trophy presentations. Only captains can pick up the place money unless they give signed permission to another team member. All teams will receive place money depending on their final team standings.
Any teams that did not pick up their t-shirts at the previous monthly tournaments must make arrangements before the Banquet.
Posters and registrations forms for the 2024-25 Season will be available the end of July at your home location. We will also be offering a Youth League over the summer. Details will be available at the beginning of June.
Have a great summer and look forward to seeing everyone next season.
Changes from the 2023-24 Season:
There are some revisions and clarifications regarding the CSR rules for teams in league and tournament play. The Board reviewed the recent feedback, and some adjustments were made as listed below:
There has been an adjustment to the maximum CSR cap for Division #1. It has moved up 100 points and the new maximum for Division #1 is now 8850.
1) The board has adjusted the way the CSR cap is applied. For Division 1, teams must now maintain a combined CSR rating of the 5 players in a match below the 8850-maximum cap. This includes league play and tournament matches.
2) Captains should confer with each other at the beginning of the match and ensure the most updated CSR ratings are being used. These are available on CompuSport.
3) Any teams having discrepancies can call 780-288-7665 for clarification.
4) If there are issues with the CompuSport CSR rating, the board can contact CompuSport for any needed adjustments.
5) It is the captain's responsibility to ensure his lineup is below the 8850 CSR maximum cap.
6) If a team is found in violation of exceeding the maximum 8850 cap they will forfeit the scores of the highest scoring player that night. The player will get a zero score.
7) Both captains are responsible for clarifying this at the beginning of the match to avoid issues.
8) During a Tournament when a team decides to use a sixth player as a spare to rotate into a match, the team must use the top (highest) 5 CSR ratings to calculate the team CSR and remain below the 8750 maximum (for Division 1).
9) Any new player added during a night of play who has never played league and does not have a CSR rating will receive 1750 for the first night of play when calculating the team CSR. This is calculated by using the Division maximum cap divided by 5 players (ie. 8850/5 = 1770). Their CSR will adjust moving forward once CompuSport calculates there first night of play.
10) Any incidents involving teams that exceed the 8850 should notify our administration immediately (780-288-7665).
11) There is no maximum CSR for a team, only that they play any match (league or tournament) below the 8850 CSR maximum for Division 1, 8400 for Division 2 and 8050 for Division 3.
12) The rules are moving forward from November 19th, 2023. Any scores from previous matches will remain as is.
13) We will remind players when these rules are communicated that sportsmanship is the number one rule.

Couple of quick updates:
1) CSR updates have been adjusted as of November 19th, 2023. (See above)
2) There have been adjustments to the tournament dates in January and the day divisions play.
3) There has been an amendment to rule 3.38 regarding frozen balls and the 45-degree angle rule. "In case of an object ball frozen to the cue ball, it is the opponent's responsibility to call a referee to determine whether or not a push shot or double hit has occurred. However, the shooter may still use the 45-degree approach for a cue ball frozen to an object ball." Revised rules will be available at the next tournament.
4) When using 5 tables at a tournament, the home team will pick the table and remain at the table for the entire match (visiting team rotates). When your opponent is available for play, start the match (ready pool).
Handicaps will not be used for the next 3 weeks, as you are now establishing your handicap against teams in your division. Teams will start using handicaps for Week 8 - November 13th and 15th. Any new players added after Week 7 will start with a 10 average.
Any teams that have Byes on their schedule will be assigned make-up matches shortly. All teams are required to play the same amount of weeks.
Thank you to all the teams that played in our Fall Classic Tournaments. The results are below, just click the link to your division.

All teams must have their dues paid in full to play in this tournament. The top 2 teams in each division will receive trophies. The tournament is called the Bob Myers Fall Classic Tournament in recognition of the work and commitment that Bob Myers made to the league.
Welcome to our 2023-2024 season. Our thirty-second Year! We hope everyone had a great summer. Let the games begin. The challenges from the past few years have forced us to address how we approach all aspects of our pool league. Here is a list of the upcoming changes:
1) The Board has decided not to continue with the BCA League and LMS scoring system moving forward. We will be using the CompuSport program which offers our users a familiar friendly app and a CSR rating system.
2) The BCA player registration will obviously not be charged. Regular yearly registration of $20 per player per night of play and a weekly dues cost of $20 per player are the fees for the 2023-24 season. Please ensure that all funds are submitted only by your assigned captain or designated team member.
3) We will no longer be accepting cash as a payment method. Captains are to e-transfer the teams dues no later than noon the following day (preferably the night of play). The e-mail question will be: What city do we play pool in? Answer: Edmonton . The e-mail for the transfer is: triple_e_pool_league@hotmail.com (don’t forget the underscores between the words).
4) Teams that wish to pay all their yearly dues for the full season in advance can receive a discount as follows:
Pay in advance by October 15th and receive a $200 discount off dues. $2400 in dues owed.
Pay in advance by October 31st and receive a $100 discount off dues. $2500 in dues owed.
Note player registration is separate from the weekly dues cost.
5) For teams that desire to play in tournaments outside of our league we will be offering affiliation with the CCS (Canadian Cue Sports Association). There will still be Divisionalized play and monthly tournaments, but we will also be able to qualify for regional, national, and world championships as well. If your team decides to join the CCS membership, there is a yearly registration cost of $100 per 5 player team for the CCS membership. It is based on a team agreeing to sign-up. If your team does not want to be part of the CCS then you are not required to.
6) The scoring system for the upcoming year will use the CompuSport System. We will no longer be using the LMS scoring app. This year will be a transition year from using the Fargo rate App to using the CSR rating used in CompuSport. The obvious question is how do the two player rating systems compare? The best conversion we found is:
CSR = FargoRate + 1200
or
FargoRate = CSR - 1200
This is not a 100% conversion rate but appears to be very close. In checking a player with a FargoRate of 459 they had a CSR rating of 1653, So doing the math there would appear to be about 6 FargoRate points difference (1653 – 1200 = 453). This will give teams that are following their FargoRate a good approximate rate of comparison and allow for us to convert between the two systems. Both the CSR and the FargoRate evaluation systems are player evaluation systems, which assesses players in comparison to other players throughout the world. This allows us to better evaluate the divisions, players, and teams. If any major discrepancies are noticed, please bring them to our attention, so we can review and address them.
7) Both the CSR and FargoRate evaluation systems allow us to maintain our current Division 1, 2, and 3, or Gold, Silver, and Bronze. There will be a Platinum division next year, if there is a demand. Team captains should monitor the overall strength of your team based on the CSR. The boundary maximum for Division 1 is 8750, as reviewed November 19th. Any team going over the maximum during a league night will receive a zero score for the player deemed putting them over the limit. Teams will not be allowed to play if they are over the maximum CSR cap during tournaments. The cap maximum of 8750 will be reviewed after the Singles tournament to see if an increase is warranted due to CSR rate adjustments. A guide for a 5-player team is:
2023-24 CSR rating (CompuSport):
Platinum Division – Master and semi-pro, rating range 8751 and above - Not relevant for the upcoming year.
Gold Division – Division 1, rating range 8401-8750
Silver Division - Division 2, rating range 8051-8400
Bronze Division - Division 3, rating range 8050 & below
Previous 2022-23 FargoRate:
Platinum Division – Master and semi-pro, rating range 2751 and above
Gold Division – Division 1, rating range 2401-2750
Silver Division - Division 2, rating range 2051-2400
Bronze Division - Division 3, rating range 2050 & below
Although players don't know which division, they will compete in at the time they register, they can be confident they will play in a division with similarly rated opponents.
8) We have moved towards a paperless system again this year. We are now using the CompuSport league management system of scoring moving forward. We will provide extra score sheets if teams would like to keep them for their own record. Scores must be entered and approved on the night of play.
9) Again, there will be 2 Singles tournaments this year (January and March).
10) We will be offering a Youth League this winter as well. Our Summer Youth League was a success and gave us a start for something we wish to see expand. Again, we will follow up when the details are finalized.
11) CompuSport scoring system and App Help:
Please note that we are using the CompuSport scorekeeper system. Captains should be registered and entering their scores on the night of play.
We have attached a link to an introduction tutorial for all captains in this mailer. Captains should go to the app store and download the CompuSport app from Compusport.ca, signup, login to the CompuSport, look up Triple “E” Pool League, locate your team and assign a score keeper (there can be several). After you have completed these steps, you should be able to access your schedules and matches.
All matches must be filled out by the home team, who will complete the match, a copy is sent to the Visiting captain for approval and must be approved by 10am the following day at the latest. Stats will be updated as scoresheets are approved. If you are having concerns logging in, please contact Alex @ (780) 288-7665.
Here are the tools for scorekeepers.
